MCQ
recognises the need for Equal Opportunities in accordance with Human Rights Act 1998, Race Relations Act 1976, The Sex Discrimination
Acts 1975 & 1986 and the Disability Discrimination Act.
As an employer MCQ shall take steps to ensure equality of opportunity regardless of race, sex, disability, unrelated criminal conviction, sexual orientation, work-shift
pattern, unsociable hours, political beliefs, offending background, marital status or religion, in respect of recruitment,
promotion, training and in carrying out their duties.
As a Training Provider MCQ shall take steps to ensure equality of opportunity for access to assessment, regardless of race, sex,
disability, unrelated criminal conviction, sexual orientation, work-shift pattern, unsociable hours, political beliefs, offending
background, marital status or religion, in respect of recruitment and in carrying out their duties.
MCQ
shall put into effect the provision relating to Equal Opportunities, agreed as part of their policy.
MCQ
shall ensure that it does not treat candidates or Assessors/Internal Verifiers in a way that would constitute an Act of Discrimination,
by carrying out the following procedures:
1) All candidates will be given the name of their workplace Assessor, and also be introduced
to them on their first day when registered.
2) All appointed Assessors and Internal Verifiers will be given a copy of the “Equal
Opportunities Policy”, and must adhere to these guide-lines. We will seek to ensure that all staff involved in training
and assessment will consider all eligible people and not indicate preferences from particular groups.
3) We will ensure that candidates will have access to the same standards of training and
assessment. The process of assessment will be monitored regularly, and all candidates are given a personal copy of their “Equal
Opportunities Policy”, which states that contact name of their Equal Opportunities Officer. We endeavour to ensure that
materials used during training and assessment periods will avoid the use of anything that may cause offence to any specific
person.
4) All appointed staff, inclusive of shift-work pattern, will be offered access to NVQ
assessment and training opportunities, with record, certification of achievement and status recognition.
5) As part of their assessment training all work based Assessors and Internal Verifiers
will be assessed on their ability to understand and implement the “Equal Opportunities Policy”.
Should any member of staff
wish to pursue a complaint or grievance arising from unequal treatment, including harassment and bullying, they should arrange
a private interview with the Equal Opportunities Officer. All complaints will be heard in the strictest confidence.
